Colin Powell, along with four (4) other retired military officers recently announced his support for Barak Obama to great fanfare.

Contrast that level of support with the list  at the link below. How about this list?

I know whose opinion I am giving more weight to.

Why is your vote important?

In a nutshell, either Barak Obama or Mitt Romney will be elected president on Tuesday. No amount of wishful thinking will make any other candidate President. A protest vote or “principle” vote for another party only leaves your country’s future up to the whims of others.

Watch and consider before you “protest” or just as bad, abstain.

What else do you need to see? Religious intolerance, suppression of free speech? One man has already been arrested for making a YouTube video – a scapegoat for failed foreign policy. Do you really think 4 years from now you will still be able to “protest”?

Or might you be explaining, very quietly, to your grandchildren what it was like when we were free…

Get out and vote – and make it count.

The negativity, intolerance and divisiveness; the attacks on self worth and success – all this has to stop. We currently have a President who has never had a “real job” and who has never passed a piece of legislation without a supermajority running against a candidate, Mitt Romney, who has succeeded with collaboration in government and business.

Friday night there were 30,000 people at a Mitt Romney rally in Ohio. Hopefully enough honest people want to make a difference and believe in America that they will show up at the polls to overcome the democrats bussing in and bribing voters, or democrats like Jim Turner who vote multiple times. Could this be prevented? Yes. The only reason you would want to avoid or prevent voter registration is because you are doing something wrong. Like Democrat Jim Murphy. Is the type of ethics you want for our country?

Obama says voting is the best revenge, again choosing words of conflict instead of collaboration. Mitt Romney wants you to vote for love of country.

Just as with the debate, a pretty clear difference – divide and conflict, or reconcile and find common ground.

Who would you rather count on to move this country into a more positive position? We already have 4 years of history that Obama really doesn’t want us to talk about. During his Presidential Campaign, he blamed Bush for the economy. In his first two years in office, with a Democrat majority in both the House of Representatives and in the Senate, the economy only got worse. And is still worse by all measures than when he was elected in 2008. He still has not passed a piece of legislation without the support of a supermajority.

I see you.

 

The Gospel of Envy – will we make a different choice?

I have written previously about friends and colleagues who have immigrated from elsewhere to live and work here in the United States, and who also have expressed concerns regarding the frightening direction the current administration is taking our country.

You don’t have to take my word for it anymore. Thomas Peterffy makes the statement in his own words. He came from Hungary, behind the iron curtain, in 1956 and started from scratch to make his own successful career.

Here is a person who has experienced life in a socialist society, had the opportunity to live his adult life in a free market democracy – the United States of America – and is now very concerned that we are heading back to the philosophy of failure and misery that marks socialism. Take the time to watch this and consider his words.

I actually thought this was a joke the first time I was told about it.  Too ridiculous to be true, right?  Turns out that it may be ridiculous, but it isn’t just a rumor.

I think it ironic that America, the most successful, longest living democracy in recorded history may potentially have international monitors.  I would find it less offensive if this were perhaps an instructional exercise – an opportunity for the observers to see how a free election should be held.  However, it is not.

This is arguably the most important election in generations; perhaps in our history.   Nothing less than the continued existence of a free, democratic, free market society and the devolution to a socialist, managed society hangs in the balance.  A few things I find interesting about the situation:

  • The countries involved are Socialist democracies at best, pure socialism or totalitarian at worst.  Kazakhstan?  Really?
  • The proposed monitors are from countries with overwhelming socialist support for Obama, or a vested interest in Obama’s re-election.  How neutral do you think these observers will be?
  • These international observers are challenging the rights of individual states within the republic.  Talk about outside interference.

Ironically, the very same parties who are dead set against laws to restrict voter fraud or voter identification are the ones asking for this “international monitoring”!  What are they looking for?  We know they are not interested in ensuring that only registered voters submit their vote in a legal manner.  So what is it?  The fact that your candidate is dropping in the polls is not an indication of voting fraud.  If your candidate is not elected – that also is not an indication of fraud.  Manipulating results, subjecting United States Citizens to the laws of other countries, or interference from other nation in our internal election certainly is.  Remember, this is the party that took a vote on a change to the Democratic Platform on television for the world to see.  Three times they took a vote.  Three times they didn’t get the answer they wanted.  So finally, they simply did what they wanted anyway.  These are the people worried about a fair election?  You have to wonder what fair looks like to them.

If we have to submit to outside monitoring for fraud, here are a few of suggestions:

  • Make sure the voters are actually legal, registered voters
  • Make sure the voters are voting on their own free will, not bussed in and told who to vote for
  • Make sure there are no quid pro quo’s – you vote, we will give you a ____ (Fill in the blank)
  • Make sure that the voter only votes once
  • Look into the error that delayed absentee ballots to our military serving overseas.  A group that just coincidentally is disenfranchised with the current Administration.

I personally hope every legal registered voter participates in this election.  I hope every single citizen takes this duty seriously and shows up to vote.  However, as with almost every single moderate or conservative voter I know, I do want them to vote legally – I am not sure why this is such a problem?

What does it tell you when a party is so concerned with ensuring ineligible or illegal voters have a chance to cast a vote that they are willing to sacrifice our nation’s sovereignty?   I am a little concerned that a political party is dependent on illegal or unregistered voters – aren’t you?  Shouldn’t this election be determined by American Citizens?  This would seem to be a serious issue to me.
